ukiyo-e: nature outside and in

November 22, 2008 – February, 2009

The following selection of woodblock prints features
landscapes, bucolic activities, flora and fauna, and representations of mythic animals and forces from Japanese legend.  The designs span three centuries of artistic creativity.  They reflect the Japanese love of the natural world and its appropriation into their most intimate surroundings.
