Tuluma are carved from a single block of wood with notched interior rim. The boxes are designed to be tied shut and are water tight. Tuluma are made in many sizes and are used on board, especially as tackle boxes. See Gordon Macgregor, "Ethnology of Tokelau Islands" [Bernice P.
