The representation of pairs of ducks, who are known to mate for life, is consistent with the image of a happy conjugal existence. The often encountered "double duck" among Colima animals suggests that in addition to celebrating them as food, their mating behavior may have held anthropomorphic meaning and lent spousal comfort in a funerary context.

Scientific classification: "Anatidae" family.
