Bowl with two Dogs

H: 6.25 in. (15.875 cm), D: 12 in. (30.48 cm)

Low jar with cylindrical neck and slightly everted rim. Comala phase vessels like the present example were frequently modeled with animals or vegetarian objects intended as food for the dead. The present example, with its two lively puppies, may also have this intended use or the animals may have been intended as companions with the former ultimate potential.

Scientific classification: "Canis familiaris".
